The CCCW Research Centrec elebrates critical and creative writing and explores their cultural histories and contemporary forms. Our research examines writing practices both independently and in their interaction with other disciplines, considering their broader social, cultural, institutional, political, and economic contexts. We acknowledge that critical and creative writing are counter-informing modalities to articulate understandings and interrogations of our world:what it has been, what it is, and what it can be.
Collectively, our research aims to uncover insights into humanity by integrating aesthetic, critical, and professional dimensions. We embrace diversity of approach, methodology, and viewpoint. We explore various art forms, including poetry, fiction, nonfiction, essays, monographs, and digital media, using the latest technologies and techniques to push the boundaries of understanding.Through collaboration with writers, scholars, participants, and audiences, our research acknowledges the diverse roots and traditions of writing. In essence, the CCCW fosters an environment where creativity, criticism, communication, and literary scholarship converge. Engaged within intersecting local, national, international, anddisciplinary communities, we prioritize the communities and audiences that benefit from our research. We champion the enduring cultural, political, and social relevance of critical and creative writing. Words matter.
